Honeycomb sandwich structure is a typical application of honeycomb structure. The core layer is honeycomb structure. The sandwich layer of the honeycomb sandwich structure is a series of porous lattice made of metal materials, fiberglass or composite materials, and thinner panels are glued (or brazed) on the upper and lower sides of the sandwich layer. Honeycomb structure has higher strength and stiffness than other sandwich structures, and its structural efficiency can be increased by 15%-30% compared with riveted structures. The size and height of the honeycomb cells of the interlayer and the thickness of the sheets constituting the grid determine the critical stress for local buckling of the surface plate and buckling of the cell wall plate. The honeycomb sandwich structure has very excellent comprehensive properties, which are mainly reflected in the following aspects:
(1) Lightweight. Since the honeycomb core is a porous material, the cross-sectional area of the solid part is very small, so the density of the honeycomb core is also very small, and the thickness of the panel is thin, so the overall quality of the honeycomb sandwich structure is light.
(2) High strength. The honeycomb sandwich structure is actually equivalent to a collection of a large number of I-beam structures. The honeycomb core is equivalent to the web of the I-beam, and the honeycomb panel is equivalent to the wing plate of the I-beam. Therefore, the honeycomb wall panel structure has high compressive strength. , High resistance to compression deformation.
(3) High rigidity and good stability. In the honeycomb sandwich structure, the height of the honeycomb core is usually several times or even dozens of times higher than the panel, and the honeycomb core supports the panel. The stiffness of the honeycomb sandwich panel increases cubically, so its shear strength is high—good stable performance. In the design process of honeycomb sandwich panels, the stiffness can be improved by increasing the ratio of honeycomb core height to panel thickness.
(4) Good sound insulation and heat insulation properties. In commonly used honeycomb sandwich structures, the physical volume of the honeycomb core only accounts for 1%-3%, and the remaining space is air in a sealed state. Since the sound insulation and heat insulation properties of air are better than any solid material, the propagation of sound waves and heat is greatly affected. Limitation, so the honeycomb sandwich panel has good sound insulation and heat insulation properties.
In addition, the honeycomb core itself also has functions such as flow diversion, electromagnetic shielding, buffering and energy absorption.
